DVD Day: ‘I Am Legend,’ After Dark HorrorFest

I hope you all had a nice St. Patrick’s Day yesterday. If you didn’t have the luck o’ the Irish, today’s selection of horror on DVD should cheer you up. The biggest release of the week is I Am Legend, the record-breaking, Will Smith-starring novel adaptation. You can read my review of it here as well as a roundtable discussion here. Also noteworthy is the release of the After Dark HorrorFest movies. The “8 films to die for” are Borderland, Crazy Eights, The Deaths of Ian Stone, Lake Dead, Mulberry Street, Nightmare Man, Tooth and Nail, and Unearthed. They are available individually or in a box set. We only caught Mulberry Street, and you can read our review of it here. The rest of the releases are straight to video, including The Lost, a Jack Ketchum adaptation from Chris Sivertson (I Know Who Killed Me); 7eventy 5ive, a mediocre throwback to ’90’s slashers; The Sickhouse, an abandoned hospital flick starring Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers); and Trigger Man, inspired by true events of a hunting tip gone wrong.

Time to catch those blasted Horrorfest films. I want to see ‘Crazy Eights’, ‘The Deaths Of Ian Stone’ and ‘Mulberry St’.

The trailers for ‘Nightmare Man’ and ‘Lake Dead’ looked terrible. Might skip those two.

Mulberry St was good; I recommend it. I watched Ian Stone last night. It was a cool concept but not really my cup of tea. Overall it was decent but not great, 6/10.
