DVD Day: ‘Carrie,’ ‘Girl Next Door,’ ‘Hood Has Eyez’

It’s another week of rereleases and indie flicks, but thankfully some of them are pretty damn good. 1976’s classic Stephen King adaptation, Carrie, is getting another release as part of the ‘Decades Collection’ with a bonus CD featuring eight songs that were all the rage ’70’s. The 1964 Vincent Price classic The Last Man on Earth is also being re-released on DVD. This is an obvious choice, despite the fact that the film is public domain, because it is also an adaptation of I Am Legend. A ‘Cannibal Lunch Box’ triple feature also hits shelves, featuring 1975’s Warlock Moon, 2002’s Blood Feast 2, and 1972’s Man From Deep River. Two brutal indie flicks that we enjoyed are also getting their releases: The Hood Has Eyez (review) and the ‘Mutant Edition’ of Goregoyles. Last but not least is The Girl Next Door, an adaptation of the Jack Ketchum novel of the same name. I’ve been looking forward to this, so you can expect a review in the near future.

Carrie is a classic. I have Last Man On Earth on the 100 horror classics box set, its pretty good. The Hood Has Eyes sounds awesome! Ive never read Kethcum’s work but Ive heard good things.
‘The Girl Next Door’ is worth the watch. Well-acted, and sobering. Based on a real life story which level of cruelty is hard to believe, but it did happen.
